BookBrain.co.uk now available over WAP
[March 16th 2000] With the launch of BookBrain for WAP,
anyone will be able to check online book prices from wherever they are. If
someone is in a high street bookshop considering buying a book, they can access
BookBrain via their mobile phone to check if the shop's price is competitive
with 11 online bookshops, including WH Smith, Amazon, Waterstones and
AlphabetStreet. They will also be able to find out about alternative book
titles, which may not be on the shelves in front of them. As soon as online bookshops have their own WAP sites, it
will also be possible to order from the bookshop with the best deal, all over a
mobile phone. The BookBrain WAP service currently provides details of book
availability, prices and shipping charges. From this it provides the total cost
of buying a book online. Antony Moore, Founder of BookBrain said, "The Internet
is already a very popular tool for people to research purchases on.
Now WAP and BookBrain gives people a mobile shopping companion." As
the WAP standard evolves and more WAP phones are available, BookBrain will be
able to offer more advanced features, like access to reviews of books. The WAP
service can be accessed on exactly the same URL as the web service - http://www.bookbrain.co.uk BookBrain.co.uk, developed by Activepage Ltd, is a UK based
company dedicated to the UK book buyer. The following photographs are available
