Concept Technologies launches Acacia as world's first unified platform for managing wireless applications

[May 2nd 2000] Concept Technologies, a Hugh Symons Group plc company, has announced the availability of Acacia, the first unified business management platform for any wireless device.
Acacia is aimed at Mobile Network Operators, Corporates, ASP's, Portals and Infrastructure Manufacturers who need to be able to control the distribution, and where necessary the billing processes, of applications to any wireless device or PC via a web browser. Unlike competitor offerings, Acacia is fully scalable, is network independent and is GPRS/UMTS ready.

Three years in development, Acacia is a Java based framework which has been developed to address the needs of the: Mobile Network Operators - by allowing operators to provide tailored information, services and applications to either GSM Handsets, WAP phones, Symbian, Palm and Windows CE products, and JAVA applications on MexE handsets; Corporates - by mirroring the corporate structure, Acacia can manage information to mobile devices giving the enterprise complete control of when and what applications are delivered to the workforce; ISPs and Portals - based on individual or group profiles, Acacia can deliver tailored and relevant information to the end user.

"With the wireless application market set to explode it is essential that operators are able to fully manage the distribution of content and applications. Acacia delivers a unique total solution that is both platform independent and feature rich. There is no other framework available today that has either the functionality or level of scalability of Acacia." said: Bruce Jackson, chief technology officer, Concept Technologies. "Acacia is currently being trialled, by a number of leading network operators and we expect to make a series announcements over the coming months." he finished.
